Bill Marion

Since 2001, Bill Marion has been a principal and partner of Purdue Marion & Associates Public Relations a senior-level strategic communications company that represents a wide variety of industries, including gaming, financial services, real estate, technology, political and government entities, manufacturing, education, health care, and more. Bill specializes in strategic planning, media relations, crisis communications, political consulting, community relations, organizational development and government affairs, and he has served as a political consultant for several local, state, and federal campaigns. A native of Las Vegas, Bill received his B.A. from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, his M.A. in English and American Studies from Purdue University, and continued his education in the PhD program in literature at Boston University. 

Bill taught in the English and History Departments at UNLV and served for 10 years as a senior aide to Senator Harry Reid, managing his offices in Las Vegas and Washington, D.C. He has been a consultant to the Southern Nevada Strong Regional Plan initiative, the Henderson Strong planning project and the Regional Transportation Commission’s On Board High Capacity Transit Study. He firmly believes in expanding recreational, educational and cultural opportunities to stimulate and encourage economic development in Southern Nevada.

His passion for cultural development in southern Nevada is also evident in his personal as well as his professional life. As the past Chairman of the Las Vegas Arts Commission, he was responsible for passage of the percent-for-the-arts program. He was the founding development director of the Las Vegas Philharmonic, served as chairman of The Neon Museum Board, and is the board chairman of Nevada Humanities, the state affiliate for the National Endowment for the Humanities. In southern Nevada, Bill has made an art out of furthering both communication and culture.
